Position Overview:
Our client, a Toowoomba based locksmith company is seeking an enthusiastic, and energetic Locksmith Apprentice to begin training as a mobile locksmith throughout Toowoomba and the Darling Downs. On offer is a full-time position for an apprentice, for immediate start to begin learning and expanding on knowledge and experience in the locksmith industry.
The successful applicant would be joining an expanding locksmith company, and work/learn under experienced and high-quality locksmith tradespersons. With the intention of becoming an independent mobile locksmith upon completion of apprenticeship.
Vehicle and tools will be provided to successful applicant once able to work independently and experienced in role at completion of apprenticeship.
The standard work week is Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm with occasional overtime, and on-call duties for additional income.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The employer is a full-service locksmith with opportunities to complete training and gain experience in every aspect of the industry such as:
- Domestic and commercial repair, service and installation.
- Design, supply and install of Restricted Master Key Systems (including high security areas).
- Automotive key cutting and transponder and remote programming.
- Safes (sales, installation, repairs, gain entry, restoration).
- Security screen sales and installation.
- Domestic and commercial electronic security (alarm systems, electric locks, etc.).
- Gain entry (lock picking).
- Key cutting
This is a great opportunity to develop skills and knowledge through completing on the job working experience and training with an employer whilst completing a nationally recognised course of training through a registered training organisation.
Essential Criteria:
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Eagerness to learn all aspects of locksmithing and expand on knowledge.
- Flexible, reliable and well presented.
- Good communication both with work mates and customers.
- Effective time management skills with ability to think ahead and prioritise workload.
- Good judgement and problem solving.
- Ability to work within a close team environment and enjoy a friendly work environment.
- Ability to listen and follow instructions and ask for assistance when required.
- Act responsibly and safely in the workplace.
- The ability to develop effective relationships both in the workplace, and with customers.
- After-hours /on-call locksmith available 1 week per month once experience permits.
- The ability to complete timesheets correctly and on-time.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in customer service.
- Mechanically minded.
- Positive attitude.
Position Requirements:
To fulfil the requirements of Locksmith Apprenticeship with Golden West Apprenticeships you will:
- Abide by the terms and conditions of the Training Contract.
- Complete Golden West Apprenticeships inductions.
- Perform work in a satisfactory manner.
- Commit to and complete the Training Plan in the timeframe allocated by completing theory based assessments and demonstrating skills through competency based assessments to the best of your ability.
- Comply with registration relevant to your field of work, in particular the Further Education and Training Act and the Work Health and Safety Act.
